VOICES AND FACES FROM THE GROUND

Strengthening the Mission: Regular Visitation of
Sr. Maria Goretti in Masbate

From February 15 to 19, 2026, the Daughters of Charity Community in Masbate (Bahay Lindalva) joyfully welcomed Sr. Maria Goretti Sathan BUAKHAN, DC, for the Regular Visitation. Her presence became a journey of faith, solidarity, and renewal, filling hearts with gratitude and hope.

Her arrival in Brgy. Espinosa was marked by joyful songs from children, youth, and mothers—a heartfelt welcome that revealed the deep bond between the Sisters and the people they serve. Later that day, in Sitio Rubia, the community expressed their culture and faith through local dances, while families shared stories of resilience after Typhoon Opong. Sr. Maria Goretti listened with compassion, visiting homes and offering her presence as a sign of solidarity.

The visitation also highlighted the Daughters of Charity’s steadfast commitment to the vulnerable. This was made evident the following day, when Sr. Maria Goretti stood beside a family at the Family Court as they sought justice and protection for a child. By midday, she joined the children’s feeding program in Espinosa, and in the afternoon, visited “Pasirungan,” a home for vulnerable girls, engaging warmly with residents and staff.

Her journey continued in Sitio Himomoro, where mothers welcomed her with a song and shared their livelihood efforts, particularly the production of boneless”bangus” (milkfish). Later, she met with the Diocesan Administrator Msgr. Claro Caluya and representatives from the Department of Trade and Industry, witnessing how the community strengthens families, promotes livelihood, and collaborates with partners to sustain opportunities—all rooted in the Vincentian spirit.

The visitation also allowed moments of fellowship and rest, with a visit to the Buntod Sandbar and Reef Marine Sanctuary, where nature’s beauty became a backdrop for Community bonding. Finally, the journey concluded with Ash Wednesday Mass, where Sr. Maria Goretti joined the people in prayer, marking the beginning of Lent.

Sr. Maria Goretti’s presence was a source of encouragement, affirming the Sisters’ mission in Masbate and strengthening the bond between the Province and the Bahay Lindalva Community. The days became a moment of grace, inspiring all to continue walking together in humility, charity, and faith, serving the poor in the Vincentian spirit.
