VOICES AND FACES FROM THE GROUND

Sisters Under 10 Years of Vocation:
Hope Aflame, Empowered to Serve

Sisters Under 10 Years of Vocation in the Province gathered at the DC Provincial House in Parañaque City, Philippines, for a formation organized by the formators. Held from April 7 to 9, 2026, and rooted in the theme “A Journey of Hope and Empowerment,” the gathering created a sacred space for reflection on life and mission, fostering support in faith, hope, and service. It deepened the Sisters’ appreciation of the Vincentian vocation and community life, renewing their commitment to God and to serving persons living in poverty.

The three-day gathering unfolded with enriching, participatory sessions. Sister Regina KANG Song Suk, DC, facilitated an “Open Space” that encouraged honest sharing and attentive listening. Father Rex FORTES, CM, led a session on “Empowered by Hope in Biblical and Vincentian Traditions,” grounding the participants in the spiritual foundations of their vocation. Sister Herminia SUTAREZ, DC, presented “Empowering Hope in Action,” urging the Sisters to embody hope concretely in their daily mission.

One notable moment was the dialogue with our “Masters.” In this encounter, the Sisters were deeply moved as they listened to real-life stories, recognizing Christ present in those they serve. This experience strengthened their call to compassionate service and accompaniment. The gathering was further enriched by a conversation with the Provincial Curia, where the Sisters shared their dreams and hopes for the Province, fostering openness, trust, and co-responsibility in the mission.

A Sister from Myanmar, three from Thailand, and 15 from the Philippines actively participated in the prayerful and joyful gathering, marked by openness, mutual support, and sincere sharing that encouraged each one in her vocational journey. It also highlighted that true empowerment is rooted in Christ and in the Vincentian spirit of humility, simplicity, and charity. The experience renewed their zeal to live their vocation authentically, embracing servanthood and bringing hope to those most in need.

The event concluded with a Eucharistic Celebration, a profound moment of hope and thanksgiving. In this sacred liturgy, the Sisters were blessed and sent forth, departing spiritually renewed, affirmed in their calling, and inspired to continue their journey with hope aflame, empowered as servants of Christ present in those who are poor.
