VOICES AND FACES FROM THE GROUND

Sr. Melisa Nadura, DC: By God’s gentle call, my "forever YES" begins.

With humble gratitude, the Daughters of Charity joyfully celebrated the Emission of Vows for the first time of Sr. Melisa Nadura, DC, on the Feast of the Annunciation, March 25. Taking as her theme, “By God’s gentle call, my forever Yes begins,” her vocation reflects a journey of trust, prayer, and attentive listening to God’s faithful guidance.

Her story reveals that vocation is a grace received, shaped by moments of discernment, strengthened by faith, and sustained by the assurance that God accompanies those He calls. With a heart aware of her own limitations yet confident in God’s providence, her “Yes” becomes a living response to divine love.

Emitted last March 25, Sr. Melisa echoed Mary’s fiat—that same openness to God’s will that is both humble and courageous. In keeping with the tradition of the Daughters of Charity, whose vows are renewed annually on this feast, her commitment signifies not only a personal offering but also a continual renewal of mission: to serve Christ in persons who are poor with compassion, creativity, and love.

Indeed, her “forever Yes” is not a single moment, but a lifelong journey faithfully lived, daily renewed, and joyfully offered for the glory of God and the service of those most in need.
