VOICES AND FACES FROM THE GROUND

Illuminating Hope and Gratitude: A Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

The Christmas Tree Lighting held on December 8, 2025, at USI Health Services became a gentle yet profound reminder that even in a place marked by illness, waiting, and sacrifice, hope continues to shine. As the tree was illuminated, its light reflected the prayers and wishes carried by each ornament—silent petitions for healing, strength, comfort, and thanksgiving. In that sacred moment, the hospital was transformed from a place of care into a sanctuary where hearts were lifted together in faith.

Each light became a symbol of the shared journey of patients, families, and healthcare workers. The ornaments, bearing personal prayers, spoke of trust in God amid uncertainty and of gratitude for every act of compassion given and received. The ceremony reminded us that no burden is carried alone, and that even the smallest light can offer warmth and reassurance to those who need it most

Rooted in the Vincentian spirit, the gathering called the community to remain bearers of Christ’s light through loving service. As St. Vincent de Paul reminds us, “Charity is the cement which binds communities to God and persons to one another.” The glowing tree became a living sign of this charity—shining most brightly when expressed through care, presence, and selfless love

May the lights that adorned the tree on this special day continue to inspire us to carry hope and gratitude into every ward, every duty, and every encounter—so that the true light of Christmas may shine on in our service to those who are sick and suffering
